Approximately 30 km south of Brisbane, the leafy suburb known as Chambers Flat can be found. This residential and rural area is a suburb of the Logan City Council. It formed part of the Beaudesert Shire until 2008. It was named after a farmer, John Chambers, who bought three adjoining vacant lots in 1848 that later, became known as Chambers Flat. The Logan River lies on the eastern and southern borders of the suburb.

The 1980s saw considerable development in Chambers Flat with its population increasing still further in the 1990s. In the 2006 census, its population was approximately 2,300. A property management Chambers Flat search indicates that the suburb is continuing to develop with new buildings, both residential and business properties being constructed. There is a choice of homes that can be purchased or rented.

Several kindergartens, pre-primary and high schools are close by in the surrounding suburbs, namely, Park Ridge, Logan Village and Waterford, amongst others. Also, The Canterbury College co-educational school is in Waterford, where it is situated on 32 hectares. This independent school also offers a wide range of musical and sporting programmes for its primary, junior and senior school pupils. Its choir has participated in several musical events, both national and international. Canterbury College currently has an enrolment of over 1,200 students.
Chambers Flat’s well-known landmarks include The Chambers Flat Logan Reserve, Chambers Pines Public Golf Course and the Stockleigh Environmental Park. The cemetery in Chambers Flat is also a well-known historic landmark.

The Springwood Conservation Park, which is close to Chambers Flat, provides bird watching areas and a picnic site with tables, a children’s playground and access for wheelchairs. The park has more than 35 hectares of eucalyptus forest where large varieties of wildlife can also be seen. Birds abound and, if you are lucky, you could spot water dragons and koala bears. Swamp wallabies, although hard to see in the forest, can also be spotted at night when they congregate at their feeding grounds.
